Eligibility
Doctoral students in music studies; Registered in good standing at a North American university (all 23 countries on the continent); Must have completed all formal degree requirements except the dissertation (ABD status) at the time of application; Must be for full-time study
Requirements
Must not hold an equivalent major award concurrently or consecutively unless the AMS award is accepted without a stipend; Fellowship is for one year and is not deferrable or renewable; Fellows are expected to limit paid or unpaid employment to no more than 20 hours per week
Application materials
1,000 character dissertation project description; 2,000-4,000 word dissertation proposal with chapter overview; 1-2 page timeline for completion; Sample chapter or excerpt (max 60 double-spaced pages); Letter from registrar or Director of Graduate Studies attesting to ABD status
