RSV Genomic Surveillance Guide for Public Health Laboratories

Official guidance for public health laboratories on participating in the CDC-APHL RSV genomic surveillance program, including specimen selection, shipping protocols, and data submission requirements.

Eligibility
Public health laboratories; Laboratories participating in systematic molecular surveillance for RSV
Requirements
Submit a maximum of 10 RSV-positive specimens per quarter; Specimens should have an RT-PCR Ct value of ≤32; Submit original clinical specimens with 500 μL to 1 mL volume; Use unique SPHL Submitter Specimen IDs; Complete Global File Accessioning Template (GFAT) for each shipment

How to apply
Contact CDC and APHL personnel prior to shipment; Request shipping labels from APHL at least 72 hours in advance; Ship specimens overnight on dry ice to the CDC STATT Lab; Email completed GFAT and tracking information to sarsseq@cdc.gov
