Cover letter (including address, phone number, and institutional affiliation); Description of doctoral research on Brahms (max 500 words); Account detailing the project aspect to be completed with assistance (max 250 words); Two confidential letters of recommendation (including one from the dissertation advisor); Draft chapter from the dissertation (for finalists only)

Submit materials in triplicate to Professor David Brodbeck, Chairman of the Geiringer Scholarship Committee, Department of Music, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA 15260; Ensure materials are postmarked no later than 1 May 1990; Have recommenders send letters directly to the Chairman by 1 May 1990
