Host institutions determine eligibility for host researchers.; Overseas researchers must use a passport for entry into Japan to determine nationality.; Individuals with Japanese citizenship or permanent residency cannot apply for Postdoctoral Fellowships.; Dual nationals may apply if they renounce Japanese citizenship before arriving in Japan.; Professional degrees from Japan, or MD/JD from the U.S. are not considered doctoral degrees.
How to apply
Host researchers contact their institution's administrative office for JSPS Electronic Application System access.; JSPS does not introduce foreign researchers to host researchers or vice versa.; Candidates can find host researchers/institutions via researchmap, J-GLOBAL, and KAKEN databases.; Application for Short-term (PA) Program is through country-specific nominating authorities.; Only one application per program is allowed through a single nominating authority.
