Eligibility
Must have begun junior/third year of undergraduate studies at time of application; Must not have completed first year of graduate school; Must be enrolled at a college or university in the United States or Canada; Must be at least 18 years old; Must have no prior archaeological fieldwork experience
Requirements
Minimum field school duration of four weeks; Academic achievement and financial need; Must join the AIA at a student membership rate if not already a member
Application materials
Online application form; Names and emails of two academic references; Brief essay (300 words max); Project details and anticipated length of stay; Outline of anticipated expenses and statement of other financial resources; Unofficial or official transcripts showing at least two years of college-level coursework
How to apply
Submit application online only by March 1 (11:59pm EST); References must submit recommendations online; Selected recipients must submit an acceptance letter from the field project director by May 10; Selected recipients must submit a final report, images, and a thank you note within 60 days of project completion
