German Studies Conference Funding

Co-funding for workshops, seminars, and conferences on German studies in humanities and social sciences. Deadlines are May 31st and October 31st.

Eligibility

Faculty members and advanced students in humanities, social sciences, and related fields.; Projects must embrace interdisciplinary and/or comparative study of Germany.; Grants are for specific projects, not institutional funding or annual meetings.; Projects must be of limited duration with a clearly defined goal.; Projects must generally be carried out within the applicable calendar year.

Requirements

A minimum of 50% of project costs must be contributed from other sources.; In-kind contributions cannot be counted towards the 50% requirement.; DAAD funding does not cover transatlantic travel.; Domestic travel, accommodation for speakers, catering, and honoraria are chargeable.; No funding for office overhead or indirect costs at North American universities.

Application materials

Comprehensive project description with rationale.; Preliminary program and speaker list.; Information on project publicity, outreach, and target audience.; Detailed budget with all prospective funding sources.; Signed application submitted via regular mail and email as a PDF.

How to apply

Submit a complete application electronically and in paper form.; Send applications to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in New York.
