Total dollar amount varies based on years of relevant experience.

Eligibility

Applicant must have MD, DMD, DVM, DO, PhD, or equivalent.; Applicant must not be simultaneously serving an internship or residency.; Most recent doctoral degree received no more than 5 years before application submission.; Breakthrough T1D is sensitive to career disruptions (e.g., parenting, health issues, COVID) and may adjust timeframes.; Applicant must be sponsored by a full-time affiliated investigator at an accredited institution.

Requirements

Research plan suitable for a three-year training period (max 7 pages).; Research plan must be relevant to Breakthrough T1D's mission.; Future Career Plan Statement (max 2 pages) detailing career goals and relevance to T1D research.; Training Plan Statement (max 2 pages) written by sponsor, outlining training program and confirming facilities.; Three confidential recommendation references assessing applicant's abilities and potential.

Application materials

Full applications (including research plans) submitted via RMS360.; Research Plan (max 7 pages) with specific sections: Specific Aims, Background/Significance, Preliminary Results, Research Designs/Methods, Other Training Environment Aspects,...; Future Career Plan Statement (max 2 pages).; Training Plan Statement (max 2 pages) by sponsor.; Sponsor's biographical sketch, list of previous trainees, and current/pending grant support.
