Eligibility

U.S. citizens enrolled as undergraduates in a U.S. college or university; Students majoring in any field of study; Must study in a semester (at least 3 months) or academic-year program in Japan; Must earn credit that will transfer to home campus; Not eligible if study abroad in Japan has already begun

Requirements

Demonstrate academic merit; Demonstrate financial need; Japanese language study is not a prerequisite

Applications for 2026-2027 are closed; Applications for 2027-2028 open in spring 2027; Application deadline: March 15th, 2027
