Eligibility
Doctoral students or postdocs (up to 4 years after doctorate); Cannot be doing entire doctorate at a German university; US or Canadian citizens or permanent residents; Foreign nationals living in USA/Canada with degree from US/Canada; Must not have resided in Germany for over 15 months at deadline
Requirements
Doctorate started within 3 years of deadline (doctoral students); Doctorate completed within 4 years of deadline (postdocs); German language skills may be required, depending on project; DAAD Language Evaluation Form; Confirmation from academic host in Germany
Application materials
Full curriculum vitae (max. 3 pages); List of published publications (max. 10 pages, mandatory for postdocs); Letter of motivation (1-2 pages); Research proposal (max. 10 pages); Time schedule of planned research work
How to apply
Complete online application in the DAAD portal; Upload all required documents to the DAAD portal; Application portal opens approx. 6 weeks before deadline; Application is only valid if all documents are submitted by the deadline; DAAD portal closes at 24:00 CET/CEST on the deadline
