Eligibility
Doctoral students at a university outside Germany (start of doctorate within last 3 years); Postdocs who completed doctorate within last 4 years; US or Canadian citizens or permanent residents; Foreign nationals living in the USA/Canada who gained their last degree there; Must not have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at application deadline
Requirements
Research project at a state or state-recognized university or research institute in Germany; Agreement with a scientific supervisor in Germany; DAAD Language Evaluation Form; Must not be doing entire doctorate at a German university
Application materials
Curriculum vitae (max 3 pages); List of publications (mandatory for postdocs, max 10 pages); Letter of motivation (1-2 pages); Research proposal (max 10 pages); Time schedule of research work; Proof of admission/enrolment for doctoral studies
