Fellowships for Americans – BAEF
Official information page for the Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) fellowships for U.S. citizens and permanent residents to study or conduct research in Belgium for the 2027-2028 academic year.
Citizens or permanent residents of the United States; Plan to register for study at a Belgian graduate program (Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent); Registered student in a U.S. Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent program planning research in Belgium; Hold a Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent degree and plan research in Belgium; Postdoctoral applicants must have no more than 2 years of postdoctoral research experience since obtaining the Ph.D. degree by July 1, 2027
Requirements
Must make own arrangements to register or affiliate with a Belgian university or research institution; Must be in residence in Belgium during the tenure of the fellowship; Minimum duration of 6 months, maximum of 12 months

Completed application form; Undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts; Brief autobiographical statement; Plan of study or research; 3 letters of recommendation
