Latin American/Caribbean Conservation Research Grant

A research grant program by the American Ornithological Society (AOS) supporting early-career scientists from Latin America and the Caribbean conducting avian conservation research.

Eligibility
Early-career scientists with graduate degrees (MS or Ph.D.) within 5 years of graduating; Must be from countries within Latin America and the Caribbean; Priority given to applicants living and working in the region; Must be current AOS members or willing to become one; Currently enrolled students are not eligible
Requirements
Research must be conservation-related and focused on avian species in Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Caribbean; Must adhere to AOS Code of Conduct & Ethics; Must obtain all necessary research permits; Must submit interim and final reports, including video summaries
Application materials
Curriculum vitae; Research narrative (max 2,000 words); Abstract in English (max 200 words); Project timeline; Budget; Researcher qualifications narrative
How to apply
Submit application via the AOS Member Portal; Proposals may be submitted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French; Abstracts must be in English; Optional grant preparation workshop available on 4 February 2026
