Official 2026 call for proposals for AOS grants supporting early-career scientists conducting avian conservation research in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Award amount
Up to $5,000 USD each (minimum of 6 grants)
Eligibility
Early career scientists with graduate degrees (MS or PhD) obtained within the last 5 years; Must be from countries within Latin America and the Caribbean; Priority given to applicants living and working in the region; Currently enrolled students are not eligible; Must be or become an AOS member
Requirements
Research must be conservation-related and focused on avian species in Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Caribbean; Projects focused on species of concern or threatened/endangered species are prioritized; Must have all necessary research permits; Must submit interim and final reports including video summaries
Application materials
Proposal title; Abstract in English (max 200 words); Research narrative (max 2000 words); Researcher qualifications narrative (max 200 words); Project timeline; Budget (total project cost and LACCR specific budget)

Submit application via the AOS membership portal: https://my.americanornithology.org/Forms/Latin-America-Caribbean-Conservation-Research-Proposals; Proposals may be submitted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French (Abstracts must be in English)
