Must hold a doctoral degree; Must have a full-time faculty or professional appointment; Must have held a K or R type award within five years preceding the application; Must be authorized to work in the United States; Must not have been PI on three or more large federal research grants (e.g., R01, U01, P01, VA Merit); Institution must be a non-profit research institution located in the United States
Requirements
Institutional commitment (salary support, research space) evidenced by Department Chair letter; Significant scientific contributions in publication record; Maximum 75% of budget for salary/fringe benefits; Maximum 30% of budget for permanent equipment; Limited to one American Lung Association application per annual cycle; Grant can be awarded only once per applicant
