Exceptionally qualified world leaders in their fields; Established as academics abroad; Eligible to be appointed to a professorship in Germany; Nominations must be made by universities in Germany (or non-university research institutions in conjunction with a university)

Nominee must be an academic established abroad; Nominee must be eligible for a German professorship; Nominating institution must provide a strategy for integrating the award winner; Must abide by rules of good scientific practice
