Award amount
  • Payment of tuition fees
  • Personal allowance (stipend) to cover accommodation and basic living expenses
  • Fares for economy flights to and from the United States at the start and end of tenure
  • Payment of visa fees and access to the UK National Health Service
  • Additional allowances to support ambassadorial engagement during scholarship tenure

Eligibility
  • Must hold a first undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States by September 2027
  • Must have graduated from first undergraduate college or university after April 2024
  • Must not have studied for or hold a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British university, or have taken GCSE or A Levels in the UK
Requirements
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application (rounded GPAs are not accepted)
  • Must be endorsed by the President, Provost, or Academic Dean of the applicant's US undergraduate institution
  • Must apply in one region only (permanent residence, employment, or place of study)
  • Must apply for either the one-year or two-year scholarship, not both

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • Maximum 300-word statement outlining plans to meet program objectives (for one-year award applicants)
How to apply
Complete the online application form and submit it through the system to the undergraduate institution.
Important dates
  • 1 October 2026 at 5:00pm (endorsing institution time zone): Deadline for endorsing institution to submit endorsed application and recommendations
  • Mid-November 2026: Interviews
  • Early to mid-December: Selected scholars receive confirmation letters from the Marshall Commission
  • September 2027: Scholarship tenure begins
