James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program
The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program provides approximately 15 one-year fellowships for graduating seniors and recent graduates to work as research assistants to senior scholars at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
- Award amount
- Anticipated salary of $4,000.00 per month before taxes, paid semi-monthly for 10–12 months.
- Full benefits package.
- Relocation support of up to $1,500 (grossed up for taxes).
- One-year fellowship tenure beginning September 1st.

- U.S. citizenship is not required for applicants attending a U.S. institution if eligible to work in the U.S. for 10–12 months from September 1 through at least June 30 following graduation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen if attending a participating institution located outside the United States.
- Must be a graduating senior or have graduated during the previous academic year.
- Applicants who have started graduate studies are ineligible, except those who have completed a joint bachelor’s/master’s degree program.
- Resume (one to two pages preferred).
- Personal statement (up to two pages).
- Writing sample (3 to 5 pages, completed work or excerpt) accompanied by a brief explanation of no more than half a page.
- Transcript (unofficial preferred
- official transcript acceptable).
- Two letters of recommendation.
