Fulbright U.S. Student Program
Offers Study/Research Awards, in which candidates design a proposal for a specific country, and English Teaching Assistant Awards that place grantees in schools overseas to supplement local English language instruction.

- A stipend broadly based on the host country's cost of living to cover room, board, and incidental costs during the grant period.
- Accident and sickness health benefits.
- 12 months of non-competitive eligibility (NCE) hiring status within the federal government.
- Round-trip transportation to the host country.
Overview
- Must hold a conferred bachelor's degree or equivalent before the grant period begins.
- For creative and performing arts applicants without a bachelor's degree, four years of professional training and/or experience meets basic eligibility.
- Applicants who hold or will hold a Ph.D. by the national application deadline are ineligible.
- Applicants who have resided abroad for five or more years in the six-year period preceding the application deadline are ineligible.
- Applicants may not apply to both the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and the Fulbright Scholar Program in the same competition cycle.
- Applicants may not apply for more than one Fulbright U.S. Student grant in each competition cycle.
- June 1, 2028: Latest date by which 2027-2028 academic year grants must begin.
- October 6, 2026: National deadline for the 2027-2028 competition
